What is a backsplash?

A backsplash is a panel behind a sink or stove that protects the wall from splashes. This panel can consist of many types of tile, ranging from glass, marble, and metal to wood, ceramic, concrete, rock, brick, and even chalkboard!

Below are photos of my personal favorite styles, the most being the Bordeaux tile! In my dream-kitchen, I envision it serving as a bold, beautiful accent to the pendant lights and open shelving in all its modern-boho glory. A girl can dream right?
